2013 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Models

When it comes to buying a new Apple Mac laptop options are slightly limited. There have been recent updates to both available models, the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro and you can choose from a small selection of variants for each device but there are basically only the two models. Fortunately, they are both very high quality and offer different functions and features to ensure that you get the most from whichever model you opt for.

The MacBook Air was hailed for being the laptop you could balance on one finger. It is light and tiny and while this does mean that you lose a little in power and features, it is a great option if you’re looking for an ultra-portable machine that you can take everywhere with you.

Choose between an 11.6” and 13.3” display and configure your laptop so that it has 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of flash storage. Both models come with 4GB of RAM as standard but, again, you can configure this so that you have double the RAM at 8GB if you wish.

As standard, the MacBook Air comes with a 1.3GHz dual core Intel processor which is boosted to a clock speed of 2.6GHz and, if this isn’t enough for you then you can upgrade the processor to a 1.7GHz dual core processor instead.

For those that require power over portability, the MacBook Pro is the better option of the two lines. The Pro has a choice of beefed up processors, bigger screens, and more RAM and storage. Buyers can customise their computing experience with a selection of different variants and models ensuring that they enjoy exactly the model required.

The MacBook Pro comes with either a 13” or 15” screen. 13” buyers can enjoy the choice of either a 2.5GHz dual core or a 2.9GHz dual core processor. The 15” model comes with a quad core 2.3GHz processor that will tear through any tasks thrown it while coping admirably with multi-tasking too.

In terms of size and design, the MacBook Pro is noticeably larger than the Air. The Air is just 2/3” in thickness while the Pro is nearly an inch thick. The weight of the two are also very different – the Air weighs just under 3 pounds so is easy to carry around and use while on the move. The Pro, on the other hand, weighs 4.5 pounds. While you will still be able to carry the Pro easily enough from home to the office it won’t be as easy to use when you’re actually out.

If you’re looking to buy a new Apple Mac laptop then you essentially have the choice between the incredible portability of the MacBook Air and the increased power of the MacBook Pro. Deciding on which model is best for your needs will ultimately mean deciding whether you intend to use your new laptop while on the go or if you want the raw processing power that is offered by the MacBook Pro.
